4K at 144 Hz

27-inch 4K. Up to 144 frames per second.

The Kuycon P27D displays 3840 × 2160 pixels on 27 inches, or 163 pixels per inch, and goes up to 144 Hz: 2.4 times as many frames per second as a 60 Hz monitor. Scrolling, moving windows and the pointer become noticeably smoother, on Mac and PC alike.

In games, variable refresh rate (G-SYNC, FreeSync and VRR compatible) syncs the monitor to the graphics card: no more screen tearing. The 5 ms response time, adjustable across four overdrive levels, keeps motion sharp.

60 Hz standard monitor

144 Hz Kuycon P27D

In slow motion: each jump of the dot is one displayed frame. At 144 Hz, 2.4 times as many frames for the same movement.
  • 144 Hz in 4K, versus 60 Hz for a typical 4K monitor
  • 163 ppi 8.3 million pixels on 27 inches
  • 5 ms response time, 4-level overdrive

On a Mac, macOS offers several display sizes: “1920 × 1080”, the sharpest, where each point is drawn with four pixels, or scaled sizes such as “2560 × 1440”, for more workspace. For the 218 ppi density of a 5K monitor, see the Kuycon G27P and P27Z. The refresh rate you get depends on the computer and the port: table by chip.

27 inches. 4K. 144 Hz.

A glossy IPS panel under bonded anti-reflective glass, in an aluminum chassis just 22 mm thick. On its stand, it fits on any desk.

IPS panel

500 nits, a 1000:1 contrast ratio. And HDR10.

The P27D's IPS panel reaches 500 nits peak and holds 450 nits in everyday use, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Enough to stay readable in a bright room, with the stable colors and wide viewing angle of IPS.

  • 500 nits Peak
  • 1000:1 Contrast
  • HDR10 Over USB-C, DisplayPort and HDMI

Good to know: no local dimming and no Mini-LED backlight. For deeper blacks, the Kuycon G27P and its IPS Black panel reach 2000:1. Like any glossy screen, the P27D reflects a window placed opposite it: it works best in a room without strong direct light.

Color

Over a billion colors. 96% of DCI-P3.

The P27D displays 10-bit color, or 1.07 billion shades. It covers 96% of DCI-P3, the digital cinema gamut with the same primaries as the Display P3 of Macs, and 99% of sRGB, the web standard, with a color difference ΔE below 2.

  • 10-bit 1.07 billion colors
  • 96% DCI-P3
  • 99% sRGB

sRGB, Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 modes limit the gamut to the chosen working space; a paper-like black and white mode and blue light reduction make reading easier on the eyes. Tip: the first time you connect it, choose the monitor's color profile in System Settings, or adjust it with a colorimeter or an app like BetterDisplay.

Gaming

For work, and for play. PC in 4K 144 Hz, consoles in 4K 120 Hz.

The same monitor serves the Mac by day and the console in the evening. A PC reaches 4K at 144 Hz over DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 or USB-C; a PS5 or Xbox Series X displays 4K at 120 Hz with HDR over HDMI 2.1.

  • PC 4K 144 Hz
  • PS5 4K 120 Hz HDR
  • Xbox Series X 4K 120 Hz HDR
  • Nintendo Switch HDMI

Two HDMI 2.1 inputs: the console stays plugged in next to the PC, and the remote switches from one to the other.

Connectivity

4K USB-C 100 W monitor. One cable for video, data and charging.

On the P27D's USB-C port, a single cable carries the 4K picture at 144 Hz, charges the MacBook at up to 100 W and connects the monitor's two USB-C ports. For a PC or a console: one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1.

  • 2 × HDMI 2.1

With FRL and DSC, up to 4K 144 Hz. A PS5 or Xbox Series X in 4K 120 Hz HDR.

  • 2 × USB-C downstream

USB 2.0 (480 Mbps): keyboard, mouse, USB flash drive. Two adapters are included.

  • Built-in power supply

A single power cord, no external power brick. EU, UK, US, AU or CN plug, your choice.

  • Cables included

USB-C, DisplayPort and HDMI in the box: everything is ready for a Mac, a PC or a console.

The monitor's USB-C port connects to the Thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5 and USB4 ports of Macs and PCs. For 4K at 144 Hz, use the included cable or a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB4 cable; for 100 W charging, a 5 A USB-C cable with an e-marker chip. On a PC, 4K at 144 Hz requires an output with DSC: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, RTX 20 and newer, AMD Radeon RX 5500 and newer, Intel Iris Xe. Without DSC, 4K is still possible at 120 Hz.

Mac compatibility

Which Macs run the P27D at 144 Hz? Almost every Mac with an M chip.

All Apple Silicon Macs, from the M1 chip to the M5 chip, display the P27D in 4K over a single USB-C cable, with 100 W charging. It goes up to 144 Hz on Macs with M2, M3, M4 and later, as well as on M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra; it stays at 60 Hz on M1.

  • * MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max. Since March 2026, users of displays from several brands have reported a macOS bug: over USB-C or Thunderbolt, displays set above 60 Hz can drop back to 60 Hz. Apple has not released any fix to date; macOS 27 Golden Gate should normally fix it. In the meantime, the Mac's HDMI port, with an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, works around the problem. The base M5, MacBook Air and Mac mini with M4 are not affected. The bug and its workarounds
  • Intel Macs. 4K at 60 Hz over Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C, including on 2017 and later iMac models, the 2019 Mac Pro, 2017 and later MacBook Pro models with AMD graphics, and 2019 and later Macs with a 10th-generation Intel Core processor.

Design

Aluminum and glass. A plain back, or perforated.

The P27D's chassis is machined from aluminum, sandblasted and then anodized; the front is a single sheet of glass bonded to the panel. You choose the back when you buy: plain, in solid aluminum, or perforated, with a honeycomb pattern. The choice of back changes nothing else: same panel, same ports, same refresh rate.

  • CNC-machined aluminum, sandblasted and anodized
  • Anti-reflective glossy glass, bonded across the entire surface
  • 22 mm thick, thin, even bezels on all four sides

Comparison

4K at 144 Hz or 5K? The P27D versus the Studio Display and the G27P.

The Kuycon P27D is all about smoothness: 144 Hz in 4K, where Apple's Studio Display stays at 60 Hz, for less than half the price. The 5K monitors, the Studio Display and the Kuycon G27P, keep the edge in text sharpness on a Mac, with 218 ppi.

Frequently asked questions

Which Macs run the P27D at 144 Hz?
All Macs with M1 to M5 chips display it in 4K over a single USB-C cable, with 100 W charging. The P27D goes up to 144 Hz on Macs with M2, M3, M4 and later, as well as on M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra; it stays at 60 Hz on M1. Apple guarantees a 4K display up to 144 Hz from M4 chips onward. The MacBook Neo is limited to one 4K display at 60 Hz.
Is my MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max affected by the high refresh rate display bug?
Yes, it can be. Users of displays from several brands report that over USB-C or Thunderbolt, macOS sometimes brings displays set to a higher refresh rate back down to 60 Hz. Apple has not released any fix to date; macOS 27 Golden Gate should normally fix it. In the meantime, connect the P27D to the Mac's HDMI port with an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. The base M5 is not affected.
4K at 144 Hz or 5K: which should you choose for a Mac?
5K (218 ppi) gives the sharpest text on macOS; the P27D's 4K at 144 Hz gives smoothness, for scrolling as well as gaming, at a lower price. For 5K, see the Kuycon G27P (75 Hz) or the P27Z (up to 180 Hz).
Is the P27D good for gaming?
Yes. It goes up to 144 Hz in 4K, with a 5 ms response time and G-SYNC, FreeSync and VRR compatible variable refresh rate. A PC connects over DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 or USB-C; a PS5 or Xbox Series X displays in 4K at 120 Hz HDR over HDMI 2.1.
Which graphics card do I need for 4K at 144 Hz on a PC?
A DisplayPort 1.4 output with DSC, HDMI 2.1 or USB-C: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, RTX 20, 30 and 40; AMD Radeon RX 5500 and newer; Intel Iris Xe and UHD 730, 750, 770. A card without DSC displays 4K at 120 Hz.
Is one cable enough to connect a MacBook?
Yes. The included USB-C cable carries the 4K picture at 144 Hz, up to 100 W of charging and the data for the monitor's two USB-C ports. With another cable, choose a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB4 cable, and a 5 A model with an e-marker chip for 100 W charging.
What ports does the P27D have?
One USB-C upstream port (video, data and 100 W charging), one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 and two USB-C downstream ports at USB 2.0 speed, all on the back. The power supply is built in.
How bright is the P27D?
500 nits peak and 450 nits in everyday use, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. It supports HDR10 over HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C, without local dimming or a Mini-LED backlight.
What is the difference between the plain back and the perforated back?
Only the look changes: the plain back is solid aluminum, the perforated back has a honeycomb pattern. The panel, ports and refresh rate are identical. You choose the back when you buy.
Is the stand included?
No. The monitor comes with a 100 × 100 VESA adapter for an arm or a wall mount. You can add the fixed stand or the height-adjustable stand, which also allows rotation to portrait mode, as an option when you buy; the VESA adapter is still included.
Is the screen glossy or matte?
Glossy, with anti-reflective glass bonded to the panel. Like any glossy screen, it reflects a window placed opposite it: it works best in a room without strong direct light.
Does the P27D have a camera or speakers?
No. For video calls, use your Mac's camera or an external camera; for sound, use your computer's speakers, headphones or external speakers.
What do customers say about the P27D?
It is rated 5/5 across 37 reviews from 14 countries. Customers mostly mention the sharpness of 4K, the smoothness of 144 Hz, the single USB-C cable that charges the MacBook and the clean aluminum design.
What warranty do I get, and will I pay taxes?
2-year warranty worldwide. Kuycon does not charge any taxes: at checkout, you choose DDP (import fees paid in advance, nothing to pay on arrival) or DAP (VAT and duties paid to the carrier on delivery), depending on the options available in your country.
How long does delivery take?
To an EU country, express delivery from our EU warehouse takes 48 to 96 h, subject to stock availability. Otherwise, the monitor ships from the factory: 5 to 10 business days by Air Express DAP, 10 to 20 business days by Air Express DDP, 30 to 40 business days by truck with DDP. You then have 14 days to change your mind.
